Des mèches moyennes (bleues) et grossières (vertes) sont recommandées pour enlever les cuticules, enlever le brillant des ongles naturels avant d'appliquer les ongles en acrylique et façonner le bord libre. Des mèches fines (rouges) sont recommandées pour nettoyer le polissage autour de la plaque à ongles. 

À la fin du travail avec un client, tous les éléments utilisés pour effectuer la procédure doivent être lavés, nettoyés, stérilisés et séchés. Une solution contenant au moins 70 % d’alcool est recommandée pour une désinfection efficace.
